SANCTIFICATION: Setting our selves apart in conjunction with the READING of the word in a move to get closer to God and listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit. SANCTIFICATION IS talking TO God, Hearing FROM God and DOING WHAT GOD DIRECTS YOU TO DO IN YOUR LIFE. SANCTIFICATION IS bringing you into the PEACE of GOD. Isaiah: God told the Priests to Sanctify themselves before coming into HIS presence. When one is sanctified they WANT to be in HIS presence, they not only want to think of GOD they want to be in ACTION for God, they want to OBEY God .we’re obeying God when we chose to tithe, WE are obeying God when we chose to be baptized, we are obeying God when we chose to help somehow in our fellowship, we are obeying God when we chose to not compromise our selves for the sake of a peaceful existence, we are obeying God when we chose to read and follow his word, we are obeying God when we want to be in ACTION for HIM. THE ENQUIRER: Like Nicodemus, he was in the scriptures, he knew the bible, he was prominent in the synagogue, a dedicated follower of the law. Yet he was not saved, he later got saved when he asked Jesus “what must I do to be saved.” He was an Enquirer He was interested in the word, but not FULLY COMMITTED TO SALVATION. IF one is COMMITTED TO SALVATION your Spirit will cause you to seek more after the THINGS OF THE SPIRIT. A person can hear the word of God get CONVICTED but not get CONVERTED not fully surrendered, in other words not SAVED. They hear, they get emotional they yield for the moment, but it does not last. Why, because they do not continue in the word they don’t get fed by the word…Matthew 13 parable of the seeds…”A farmer went out to sow his seeds, as he scattered the seed, some fell along the path, the birds came and ate it up, some fell on rocky places where it did not have much soil, it sprang up quickly, but withered because it had no roots, other seed fell among thorns, the seeds grew up and were choked by the thorns, other seeds fell on good soil, where it produced a large crop 30 times what was sown. Listen to the meaning: When someone hears the word but do not understand it fully, yet they do not continue reading the word, or going to fellowship with other believers, to grow and understand scriptures, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart, this is the seeds that fell along the path, The one who receives the seed that fell on rocky ground, is the one who hears the word and at once received it with joy, but since he has no roots, (AGAIN DOES NOT GET INTO THE WORD, DOES NOT FELLOWSHIP TO GROW) he lasts only a short time. When trouble comes he quickly falls away. The one who received the seed that fell among thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life the cares of the world, wealth, etc. Chokes it, making it unfruitful. (AGAIN DOES NOT GET INTO THE WORD FOR GROWTH AND ENCOURAGEMENT AND KNOWING HOW TO LIVE) The one who receives the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it, (HE UNDERSTANDS IT BECAUSE HE GOT INTO THE WORD, AND GOD BEGAN TO REVEAL HIMSELF) he produces a great crop. REMEMBER one can hear the word becomes excited CONVICTED but not CONVERTED. A Follower can be a saved person but a follower can also be one who is really not saved. Remember the feeding of the 5000, there were many followers not all were Disciples, some were only hanging around to see what food they could fill their bellies with. They never planned on hanging around for the long haul. They were not willing to put God first before anyone and anything. To be a Disciple and moving forward to becoming Sanctified, a person must be willing to put everything and everyone second to Christ. No other person must come before God. When one is a follower and willing to remain as a follower, the word can be snatched away from them and they are at risk. SALVATION leads TO JUSTIFICATION. One can stay at Salvation, or choose the next step and that is to move closer to God through a willingness to become set apart THEN comes SANCTIFICATION. THAT IS WHAT CHRIST MEANT WHEN HE SAID HIS PEOPLE ARE IN THE WORLD BUT NOT OF THE WORLD, A PECULIAR PEOPLE SET APART. John 17v 16
