If one understands Rev 13, one will know what the future holds. This chapter introduces us to two beast, the first one commonly known to us as the antichrist is unveiled in verses 1-10, while the second beast know as the false prophet is revealed to us in verses 11-18. The first beast is Political the second is Religious, both however are energized by the powers of Satan and therefore constitutes an Unholy Trinity, consisting of the Devil the Antichrist and the False Prophet. Remember Satan is the great imitator. The incarnation of himself in these two people is his final attempt to bring havoc on the world. Knowing he has but a short time left he attempts to go above God’s authority through his two allies the BEAST of this chapter.

Verse 1 “ and I stood upon the sand of the sea” Please remember that chapters and verses came in existence in the 1500, they are very helpful in locating passages, but they are not inspired as God’s word is. At times they even becloud the information being presented. Actually verse 1 of chapter 13 should be part of chapter 12 for the subject being discussed is Satan and his persecution of earth dwellers so verse 17 in chapter 12 should have been followed by verse 1 of chapter 13. According to the original Greek manuscript the personal pronoun should be “he” instead of “I”. Because “he” pictures Satan standing upon the sand of the sea, therefore the correct writing should be “and the dragon was wrought with the woman, and Satan stood upon the sand of the sea. Satan standing upon the sand of the sea pictures Satan seemingly being in control of earth millions and at an appointed time which we see in Chapter 17 v 5 and chapter 20 verse 8. This control is established when the two Satanically controlled beast who come out of the sea and the earth.

The first beast the antichrist arises out of the sea and has seven heads and ten horns, and upon his head ten crowns. He is a literal man, but demon possessed, his powers come out of the Abyss. Chapter 17 v 8. The seven heads filled with blasphemy also portrays the five kings who had ruled up to John’s day. The sixth king who is in power at the time and the seventh king who will reign as the antichrist during the tribulation hour. Chapter 17 v 10 confirms this “ there are seven kings…” Likewise the ten horns also depicts 10 nations over which the Antichrist or beast rules. At this point we can clearly see however that the scene before us pictures the final or seventh world leader ruling over a confederation of 10 nations during the end time. In order to understand that the 10 horns are actually 10 western nations, each of which was part of the old Roman Empire one must study the prophecy of Daniel in chapters 2 and 7 of the Book of Daniel.

PLEASE REVIEW KING NEBUCHADNEZZAR’S DREAM AND THE PROPHECY OF DANIEL IN Daniel Chapter 2 and 7

These events occurred exactly as God had revealed them to Daniel and as he in turn told Nebuchadnezzar. Now we notice something very important, the ten toes of iron and clay never destroyed the legs of Iron which was the Roman Empire. Why? Because Rome fell through internal corruption. This is an historical FACT. One can clearly read Edward Gibbon book “The history of the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire.

Therefore we see that the final world power is a union of ten western nations represented by the 10 toes of the great image. The iron tells us that these nations were part of the old Roman Empire (legs of Iron – Rome) where as the clay speaks of a deterioration as the empire weakened over the centuries. Thus the final world power will NOT BE COMMUNISM, but a confederation of 10 western nations, under the first beast or Antichrist. The ten toes also coincide with the ten horns of the beast in the verse under consideration. In the interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Daniel 2 v 36-44. Daniel describes the beast as toes as kingdoms “and in the days of these kings….”

For centuries Christians have prayed Matt 6 v 10 “thy kingdom come” During the tribulation hour the 144,000 Jewish evangelist will of Rev 7 v 3-8 will preach the gospel of the kingdom, the good news that the King is about to return. Finally the King is seen returning in chapter 11 v 15 and chapter 19 v 16, and this event takes place when a final confederation of 10 western nations have been established on earth. Could the present European Economic Community or common market be a part of this picture. Folks, Jesus is coming soon!!!!!

At this point we must consider these facts: Ireland and Denmark who are present Common Market members, were never a part of the old Roman Empire, this apparent problem however is quickly resolved when one considers the information in Daniel 7. Here we discover that following the establishment of a 10 nation confederacy another world leader arises. He takes control, kicks out three nations and replaces them with two others and his own. Daniel 7 v 8 “ I considered the horns…” This coincides perfectly with Rev 13 v 5, Daniel continues in verses 24 & 25, “ and the ten horns are 10 kings…..” Here we not only see the world leader overpowering three kings and replacing them with original members of the old Roman Empire we also observe him fulfilling the prediction of blaspheming against God described in our text.

There is no doubt about it a confederacy of 10 western nations will form, then another leader will appear, remove three nations, replace them and rule as the antichrist until the king of kings returns to earth and destroys his evil empire. Therefore the Common Market will grow to 13 nations, and these 13 could eventually control all nations, the New World Order, and finally be reduced to 10 at the end, when this 10 toes, ten horns confederacy is destroyed. This is the event described by Daniel as a stone cut out without hands, breaking into pieces the iron, the brass, the clay the silver and the gold. Then Daniel 2 v 44 - 45 occurs. “ in the days of these king…..” The dream is certain, and the interpretation assured, King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream has come to pass, after hundreds of years of history. The present alignment of western nations in the form of the EEC may well be the final piece in the puzzle.

Prepare to meet thy God Amos 4 v 12.

Chapter 13 verse 2 “ and the beast which I saw…” we have already discovered that Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome constitute the four empires of world history. We have also learned that the revived Roman Empire in the form of a final 10 nation confederation becomes the end times “power block”.

Daniel 7 pictures these four empires as a LION, a BEAR, a LEOPARD and a BEAST who is a combination of the previous empires he has conquered. The beast empire contains a portion of each preceding empires. Actually the only difference between the descriptions of John and the descriptions of Daniel, is that the order is REVERSED. In the book of Revelation John is looking back to the BEGINNING while Daniel is looking FORWARD to the CONCLUSION. Putting it all together, the message of the ten toes, ten horns and the four beast is one and the same from different vantage points. They all describe a world dictator governing the world at the time of the end. This 10 nation confederacy constitute the revival of the fourth power which is the old Roman Empire, as shown here by this fourth monstrous animal or beast.

Verse 3 “ and I saw…” the wounding of the beast is mentioned three times in this chapter verse 3, 12 and 14. The wound produces death, but restoration to life follows. Some commentators believe that this text is referring to the fall of the old Roman Empire and its restoration through the ten nation confederacy. Other commentators believe that this speaks of the resurrection of Judas Iscariot because he and the Antichrist are referred to as the son of Perdition. John 17 v 12 and 2^nd Thes 2 v 3. A third possibility is that the Antichrist is killed mid way in the tribulation hour, in retaliation for ridding the EEC of the three members of the original federation. However only God knows the answer. Such an event could possibly give the Antichrist the platform to perform a counterfeit resurrection to imitate Christ. This would prove invaluable to the prestige of the antichrist, since the deity of the Lord Jesus was affirmed by his resurrection 2000 years before. Remember the Antichrist proclaimed himself God

2^ND Thes 2 v 4 and Matt 24 v 15. Therefore a resurrection would ensure the world that he is what he claims to be. Following this we see the world is now intoxicated with his power and authority.

Verse 4 “ and they worshipped the dragon…”

In the second half of this chapter we see that the false prophet or religious leader of the tribulation period actually enforces the worship of the Antichrist. Since the people think of him as god they cry “ who is like unto him”

Verse 5 “ and there was given unto him a mouth….” The antichrist blasphemy during this period no doubt has to do with the mockery of the almighty.

We have seen clearly throughout the word that God hates idolatry and the use of images in worship, he wants no rivals Exodus 20 v 4 –5. “ thou shall not make…..” Think of the insult to God when the Antichrist erect his image and blaspheme against the Almighty.

Verse 6 “ he opened his mouth and blasphemed against God….”

During the first 42 month of the tribulation the Antichrist acts under the influence of Satan, however after Satan is cast out of heaven in chapter 12 and comes to earth he could actually incarnate himself in the dead body of the Antichrist, who had the wound by a sword and did live verse 14. Thus the beast is raised from the dead, by the counterfeiter Satan, who dwells in his body for the final 42 months claiming deity. As a result he is able to experience what he really always wanted when was cast out of heaven crying “I will be like the most high” Isaiah 14 v 12-14. Satan’s ultimate desire is now realized. He is worshiped as god. The blaspheme is unspeakable, he desecrates everything including the tabernacle and its worshippers.

Verse 7 “ and it was given unto him…” the fight is now on for the saints of the tribulation hour, remember this is not the church. The church has already been raptured in chapter 4 v 1. In the scene before us he is attempting to destroy the millions who “washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the lamb” chapter 7 v 14 and who also refused the mark of the beast chapter 20 v 4. Instead of experiencing defeat, they overcame Satan by the “blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony” chapter 12 v 11. During this time the Antichrist controls the entire world.

Lets look at some universal organization now in effect which one man could control. Exercising power over every kindred, tongue and nations. Such a one world Government is almost upon us. Consider for a moment the global organizations which have become existent in our days.

3. The Food and Agricultural Organization

4. The International Bank for Reconstruction & Dev or World Bank

5. The International Development Association

6. The United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural Org (UNESCO)

7. The World Health Organization

8. The International Finance Corporation

9. The International Monetary Fund

10. The International Civil Aviation Organization

11. The Universal Postal

12. The International Telecommunications Union

13. The World Meteorological Association

14. The Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultive Organization

15. The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trades Organization

The formation of such international alliances have led outstanding thinkers to state that a new world order is on the horizon. Presently we may be witnessing mankind final approach to a much publicized new world order and one world government of the antichrist. At this point in history all the world will be amazed as this self elevated deity takes control and the majority submit to his dictates. However God always has a remnant who will not bow to Baal or other deities.

Verse 8 “ and all the …..” The true believers of the tribulation hour will have nothing to do with this Satanic monster, even though they will not be able to buy or sell without his approval. Chapter 13 v 7. Their love for Christ will mean more than shelter or food. They will love Christ to the end Rev 20 v 4.

Is the tribulation hour approaching? Will a demon possessor devil, incarnate, human claimed deity be accepted as world leader and worshipped as God? Henry Spaak who is a spokesman for the Society for World Wide Inter-bank Financial Telecommunications “SWIFT” in Brussels, Belgium, which is the headquarters for the Common Market, made a profound statement relevant to that organization’s goals and operations a few years ago he said “ we do not want another committee, we have too many already, what we want is a man of sufficient stature to hold the allegiance of the people and lift us out of the economic morass into which we are sinking, send us such a man and be he God or Devil, we will accept him” Mr. Spaak wish may soon come to reality.

The life and death matter of verses 1-8 is so important that God repeats the warning that he often presented to the seven churches. Verse 9 “ if any man has an ear let him hear…meaning beware, take heed! Take seriously. Why?

Verse 10 “ he that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity…..” this is the exact caution Paul stressed in Galatians 6 v 7.

Verse 11 “ and I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth and he has two horns like a lamb (identifying him with CHRISTIANITY) and he spoke like a dragon (tying him in with Satan)….” Verses 11 – 18 introduces us to the second beast who is a religious fake or FALSE PROPHET, he is the third member of this Satanic Trinity, the Devil imitates the Father, the Antichrist imitates the Son and the False Prophet imitates the Holy Spirit. This religious hypocrite fulfills the prediction of the savior who said in Matt 24 v 24 “ for there shall arise false Christ and false prophets…”

Verse 12 “and he exercises all the power……” Clearly the power of the false prophet is in the realm of religion, he is co-equal in power with the antichrist. One heads up the secular world while the other controls the religious scene. These work closely together. The antichrist shares his authority with the false prophet, protecting him and his religious colossal in return for a promise of his loyalty and devotion. Therefore as the head of the World Church, the false prophet sees to it that the Antichrist who was wounded and resurrected is worshipped. This second beast is one of the greatest miracle workers.

Verse 13 “ and he doeth great wonders….” These great wonders are called “lying wonders” 2^nd Thes 2 v 9. They are the result of supernatural power from the dragon who enables these men to produce fire. Again we see Satan attempting to pattern after God, God often reveals himself by fire, Genesis 19 v 24; Lev 10 v 1-2; 1^st Kings 18 v 33, the false prophet also uses fire. Satan shares his supernatural power to deceive them verse 14, the sole purpose of all these miracles is to prepare the people for idolatry. The false prophet entices mankind to build a grotesque statue in the very image of the antichrist. This statue will be erected in Jerusalem and will be placed in the Jewish temple. This blasphemous act is against the Jewish conscience and is forbidden by the second commandment , this is why the image is such an obnoxious hateful abominable thing, and is labeled the abomination of desolation by the Lord Jesus Christ in Matt 24 v 15.

Verse 15 “and he had power to give…..” since the image is able to speak it might well be the ultimate achievement of our present day computers systems already capable of conducting intelligent conversations. Professor Seymour Wolfson an expert in the field of computers from Wayne State University Detroit, Michigan states “Already there is a report of computer systems that have the storage capability of ten trillion human beings” Is it possible that the Antichrist could control earth dwellers through such an all knowing monstrous computer system. As a result he will be able to know who follows his orders, the computer could possibly reveal who earth’s rebels are.

According to Computer Digest 1991 “in one “half Second” the computers of 13 years ago could:

1. Debit 2,000 checks to 300 different bank accounts in a half second.

2. Could examine 1,000 Electro-Cardiograms in one half second.

3. Could score 150,000 answers on 3,000 exams in one half second.

4. Figure the company payroll of 1,000 employees in one half second.

Imagine what the computer could do today thirteen years later. The Antichrist will most certainly use some form of the computer which will be fashioned in his own image.

Verses 15-18 “and he cause all both small and great…” As we have seen the Antichrist will undoubtedly use the computer to enslave the earth’s population during the tribulation hour. We also discover that he will affect and maintain this control through commerce, the buying and selling of commerce. In order to make his plan operable, he will also introduce an International Identification System in the form of a mark, possibly some form of laser tattoo or electronic device, placed in the right hand or forehead of every individual without this mark no one will be able to participate in the economic system i.e. unable to purchase or sell even the smallest item. According to verses 17 -18 This identification mark will be or include as a prefix the digits 666. The use of 666 as a prefix appears most possible, as this is the only way one person could be differentiated from another. If all numbers were identical, there would be mass confusion. Therefore prefixes preceding the 666 or the 666 as the prefix code are essential for marketing purposes.

With specific references to verse 18, one should be aware that there have always been and always will be individuals claiming to know the identity of the Antichrist. They take the numbers 666 and do all kinds of mathematical formulation, their efforts can account to no more than speculation, because we cannot know who the Antichrist is until he arrives on the scene and he cannot arrive until the church is raptured. But God’s word admonishes the Christian be wise as in Matt 10 v 16 and be watchful Matt 24 v 42, especially as the day of Christ’s return approaches. As shocking as the information in this chapter may appear, such a day is near, a cashless, check-less society is in the planning stages and numbers of countries are already experimenting. The reign of the Antichrist is on the horizon, this new Hitler with a monstrous computer which will enslave millions, may soon control the earth. Unbeliever seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near, Isaiah 55 v 16.
